At the ATTD meeting, we had our first look at the combination Animas/Dexcom integrated pump/continuous glucose monitor (CGM). We weren’t allowed to take pictures, but we really liked seeing this new device, which is called the Animas Vibe. The Vibe will have a pump similar to the one used in the Animas Ping (although they said it was slightly longer to incorporate a CGM receiver, it did not look longer to us), and is expected to use Dexcom’s fourth-generation sensor, which (as we wrote in New Now Next in diaTribe #29) will be smaller and more accurate than the SEVEN PLUS.  This was the most exciting product that we saw at ATTD, and we look very forward to approval – this should happen sooner in Europe (in 2011, we would think) and later in the US (2012 or after). –KC
