MediSafe App Helps Keep Track of Medications

Updated: 8/14/21 9:00 amPublished: 10/10/13

MediSafe is a free mobile app (Android and iPhone) designed to help people integrate their medications into daily life. Patients can enter their medications into the app, which sends them personal reminders and provides alerts to caregivers and family members if they forget to take their medication. The app offers a visual and an easy-to-use interface. Users also have the option of sending alerts via text or calling caregivers who don’t have a smartphone.

Out of over 125,000 active users, diabetes is the biggest disease represented on MediSafe, followed by hypertension and high cholesterol. The founder, Bob Shor, has his own personal connection to diabetes – his father has had type 2 diabetes for 30 years. As Mr. Shor said, “I’m sure every family with diabetes hears it all the time – did you see me take my meds today?” The idea for MediSafe came about when Mr. Shor’s father overdosed on insulin after losing track of his injections.
