diaTribe is attending the 57th annual European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD) conference this week. Keep an eye out later this week for the biggest news and highlights from one of the largest gatherings of experts in the world this year.

From September 27 through October 1, diaTribe will be attending the 57th annual European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD) conference. This virtual conference is one of the largest gatherings of experts in diabetes research and healthcare in the world.

We will be bringing you the latest and breaking coverage from the event – in particular we are excited to learn more about diabetes technology from insulin pumps to continuous glucose monitors (CGM) to automated insulin delivery (AID), including results from Omnipod 5 and DBLG1 (Diabeloop’s AID system) clinical trials.

In addition to the latest in technology, we are excited to hear more about GLP-1 receptor agonists and SGLT-2 inhibitors in various populations. Part of this coverage will include the very exciting result readouts from the EMPEROR-Preserved study, a clinical trial on the SGLT-2 inhibitor, Jardiance that showed positive results for people with heart failure with preserved ejection fraction. This talk in particular should be an exciting one, including presentations from Dr. Javed Butler (University of Mississippi), Dr. Stefan Anker (Charité University, Berlin, Germany), Dr. Gerasimos Filippatos (Attikon University Hospital, Greece), Dr. Milton Packer (Baylor University Medical Center) and Dr. Anna Norhammar (Karolinska Institute, Sweden).

We are also interested to see what the experts (including Dr. Dan Ziegler from the German Diabetes Center, Dr. Priya Sumithran from the University of Melbourne, Australia, Professor Simon Heller from the University of Sheffield, and Professor Helen Rogers from the King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust) present on a variety of other topics including weight management and obesity, prediabetes, exercise, hypoglycemia interventions, and diet and nutrition.

And finally, we cannot wait to connect healthcare professionals, researchers, and people with diabetes at our eighth annual Solvable Problems in Diabetes panel on Tuesday, September 28 at 12:30-1:45 pm EDT / 9:30-10:45 am PDT. The panel discussion will tackle topics around weight management and obesity such as the latest science on the nature and causes of obesity, its connection to diabetes and cardiovascular health, the future of obesity care, and the effectiveness of new treatments. Our panelists include Professor Sadaf Farooqi of University of Cambridge, Professor Lee Kaplan of Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School, Professor Carel le Roux of University College Dublin, and Professor Roy Taylor of Newcastle University, co-moderated by The diaTribe Foundation's Kelly Close and Dr. Alan Moses. Register for the event and watch the panel here.
