Here’s How You Can Help Protect Medicaid

The Diabetes Patient Advocacy Coalition (DPAC) is calling on Congress to reject recent budget proposals that could significantly jeopardize the Medicaid program and the millions of Americans who depend on it – including those living with diabetes.

Recent data show that approximately seven million people with diabetes rely on Medicaid for access to insulin and other life-saving treatments and technologies. In their new petition, DPAC warns that budget resolutions passed by Congress could slash federal Medicaid funding by as much as one-third or more.

For many people with diabetes, Medicaid is not just a safety net – it’s a lifeline that helps prevent life-threatening complications. Without Medicaid, people with diabetes could face serious challenges in affording the tools they need to manage their disease, like continuous glucose monitoring and insulin pumps.

This may lead to higher rates of emergency room visits and long-term health complications, which could have devastating effects for people with diabetes and their loved ones. The impact of these cuts would extend beyond individuals, burdening the broader U.S. healthcare system with higher costs.

If you’d like to be part of the solution, sign the petition urging Congress to protect Medicaid and ensure every American with diabetes can get the care they need.
