mySugr Pro Free During COVID-19

By Jimmy McDermott and Albert Cai

Roche Diabetes announced that it is providing free access to mySugr Pro during the COVID-19 pandemic. The offer is valid until September 30, 2020. Roche says the decision is intended to help more people receive remote care through telemedicine.

To access mySugr Pro for free, users can go to Accu-Chek’s website and use the voucher code “2020-2020-2020”. A mySugr Pro subscription typically costs $2.99/month or $27.99/year and gives users access to PDF and Excel blood sugar reports, meal photos, blood sugar reminders, multi-BGM syncing, and more (the comparison picture shows the differences between the basic app and the subscription app). The mySugr app (available on Apple and Android) has “more than 2 million registered users worldwide” and is highly rated by users. mySugr syncs with Roche’s Accu-Chek Aviva Connect, Accu-Chek Performance Connect, Accu-Chek Guide, and Accu-Chek Guide Me BGMs via Bluetooth. Daily steps, blood pressure, weight, and continuous glucose monitor (CGM) data (three-hours delayed) are also available in the app via Apple Health or Google Fit. In Europe, mySugr Pro also gives users access to a bolus calculator. Last, the optional mySugr Coach feature sets users up with 1:1 coaching from diabetes care and education specialists (DCES) for $39.99/month or $399.99/year.

Roche’s mySugr joins a sizeable list of diabetes-related digital health companies making efforts to support people with diabetes and healthcare professionals during this pandemic. Glooko has made its Remote Patient Care Solution free for the duration of the COVID-19 pandemic. Both Livongo and Omada have made their mental health programs free for users, and Tidepool recently launched a new telemedicine resource hub for clinicians looking to get started with telemedicine.
