FAQ

What is the diaTribe publication?

At The diaTribe Foundation, we believe that the millions of people living with diabetes, pre diabetes, and obesity today deserve education and support to help them manage their disease. Through our patient publication, diaTribe, we provide our readers with cutting-edge diabetes insights and actionable tips that enable them to take charge in controlling their diabetes. In doing so, we hope to help them become happier and healthier.

diaTribe, started in 2006, is a cornerstone program of The diaTribe Foundation. It is an online publication that can be found at diatribe.org.  Our team uses information from over 50 conferences and meetings throughout the year, speaks to leading researchers and doctors in the field, and follows more than 100 companies, making diaTribe one of the most reliable sources for research and product news. The members of our editorial and writing staff are diabetes experts, some of whom have diabetes themselves. Our prestigious Advisory Board, full of some of the most respected thought leaders and clinicians in the field of diabetes, review each issue of diaTribe, making it one of the only peer reviewed patient publications available.

Who is Kelly Close?

Kelly Close is the Editor-in-Chief of diaTribe. She is widely known as one of the most respected and intelligent patient voices in the field of diabetes. She has lived with type 1 diabetes for over 25 years, and is passionate about working to improve the lives of people with diabetes. She uses her business savvy and knowledge of the healthcare industry in her work as the founder of both Close Concerns, a health information company focusing on diabetes and obesity, and The diaTribe Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of people with diabetes and prediabetes, and advocating for action.

Who can subscribe to diaTribe?  Does it cost money to subscribe?

Anyone affected by diabetes can subscribe to diaTribe. The majority of our members are people with diabetes or their parents and caregivers. We believe everyone should have access to education about diabetes, which is why our publication is entirely free for everyone

What are the benefits of joining?

Subscribing is the best way for people to ensure they don’t miss out on the latest in diabetes news. Our members receive notifications the moment a new issue of diaTribe goes out – once a week max, no spam! They also can help with diabetes research by participating in optional surveys.

Does diaTribe focus specifically on type 1 diabetes?

Nope! diaTribe provides education on type 1 diabetes and type 2 diabetes, as well as prediabetes and obesity.

Can I donate to diaTribe?

diaTribe is run by a non-profit organization called The diaTribe Foundation, and our mission is to help people with diabetes and prediabetes live happier and healthier lives. Your donation support diaTribe and will help us bring education to even more people with diabetes. Donations are always appreciated, and anyone can make a donation directly at diatribe.org/invest.
