New Study Explores Type 1 Diabetes During Pregnancy

Researchers are inviting pregnant individuals with type 1 diabetes to take part in an online study that will gather real-world insights into diabetes management during pregnancy to improve future research and clinical care.
Trial Status: Recruiting
Clinical trials identifier: NCT06959316
Study name: T1D Pregnancy & Me
Diabetes type: Type 1 diabetes
Study sponsor: Jaeb Center for Health Research
Why is this study important?
While medical technology and diabetes care have advanced significantly over the years, there’s still a lot to learn about how people with type 1 diabetes navigate pregnancy. This is especially important because the decisions made during pregnancy can have lasting impacts on both the person giving birth and their baby.
The T1D Pregnancy & Me study aims to close critical gaps in knowledge by collecting real-world data directly from individuals living through the experience. By capturing how people manage their diabetes throughout all stages of pregnancy, researchers hope to generate insights that could shape future guidelines, improve outcomes, and personalize care for pregnant people with type 1 diabetes.
How does the trial work?
One of the best aspects of the study is that it can be completed entirely online – no in-person clinic visits are required. After enrolling online, participants will complete electronic questionnaires during each trimester of their pregnancy and once more about four weeks after delivery. These surveys gather important information about the individual’s health, diabetes management, and overall experience during pregnancy.
In addition to completing surveys, participants will also share data from the diabetes management devices they already use in daily life. This may include continuous glucose monitoring (CGM), insulin pumps, or connected insulin pens. By combining self-reported experiences with data from devices, the study will generate a rich dataset to explore patterns in type 1 diabetes management and pregnancy outcomes. Compensation is available for participants who complete their questionnaires and share their device data.
Are you interested in participating?
You may be eligible to participate if you are at least 18 years of age and:
- Have been diagnosed with type 1 diabetes for at least six months
- Are less than 15 weeks pregnant with one baby
