How Early Screening May Help Families Avoid a Type 1 Diabetes Emergency: Early Knowledge Can Change a Family’s Story

Wednesday, June 24th

Families often learn that a child has type 1 diabetes during a frightening medical crisis. Today, screening can help identify risk years before symptoms appear, giving caregivers time to learn, ask questions, and prepare with the care of a support team, instead of in the ER.

Join a heartfelt conversation with a pediatric endocrinologist and a mother living with type 1 diabetes who made the deeply personal decision to screen her own daughters. She’ll share why she hesitated, what changed her mind, and how early knowledge brought their family peace of mind.

This conversation is for parents, grandparents, caregivers, or loved ones who want to better understand type 1 diabetes screening and what it could mean for the children they care about. It's especially relevant for families with a history of type 1 and people currently balancing the decision to screen.

Thanks to the generosity of our funders, there is no charge to attend this event; however, registration is required.
