The Red Cross is offering donors a special gift this March – free A1C testing.

When you donate blood, plasma, or platelets to the Red Cross this month, you'll receive free A1C testing that screens for diabetes and prediabetes. It’s a simple way to give back to your community while learning more about your own health.

Donors can access their results within one to two weeks via the Red Cross Blood Donor app or online donor portal. If your A1C levels are elevated (6.5% or higher), consult with a healthcare provider. Anyone who donates between March 1-31, 2025 will also receive a $10 Amazon gift card by email.

This effort is part of the Red Cross's broader commitment to supporting community health and bridging healthcare access. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), an estimated 8.7 million adults who met the laboratory criteria for diabetes were undiagnosed, which accounts for almost a quarter of people living with diabetes in the U.S.

Getting screened for prediabetes and diabetes can help prevent serious health complications and ensure that people without access to regular primary care get the information they need to stay on top of their health.

You can schedule your March Red Cross blood donation appointment here.
