Why Diabetes?

The Situation

Diabetes is a serious disease, posing one of the largest challenges to our nation: 1 in 7 American adults already have diabetes, and we spend $245 billion on diabetes healthcare every year. On the individual level, diabetes causes extreme human cost and suffering, both for patients and their loved ones. At a population level, we are failing to fight this disease and cannot afford to let the trends continue.

The Trends

1 in 3 Americans will have diabetes by 2050

Every 8 seconds A person dies from diabetes

693 million people will have diabetes globally by 2045

So why is there no...

Discussion?
Awareness?
Accountability?
Outrage?

We need a political and cultural shift in which reducing the burdens of diabetes, or eliminating the disease entirely, becomes a priority. We need to recognize the importance of the emotional as well as the physical aspects of this condition. We need to hear the voices of over 29 million people with diabetes coming together and saying, “We do not accept the status quo.”

What Is The diaTribe Foundation?

Our core programs each make a different and important impact on the diabetes community. diaTribe aims to help individuals and caregivers better understand diabetes and to make healthy choices.

Engaging with policy makers, industry leaders, providers, and the public, we advocate for patients, making their voice heard. We elevate the national conversation on diabetes and connect leaders in the field. Learn More »
