Kara Miecznikowski

Kara joined diaTribe as a Summer Associate in May 2019 as a rising senior at the University of Notre Dame, where she studied biological sciences and journalism. At Notre Dame, she wrote and edited for several student journalism organizations and publications, including ND’s undergraduate journal of scientific research and the student-run newspaper, at which she created and led the inaugural audio department. She also hosted a weekly radio show and was co-station manager at WVFI, the campus radio station. She conducted research on attention and memory in the Department of Psychology, and spent a summer conducting research at Baylor College of Medicine, where she studied the effects of steroid hormones and hypothalamic gene expression on stress activity and recovery. After graduating in 2020, she conducted clinical research and coordinated patient outreach and education at the American Hip Institute in Chicago, IL. Kara is currently a guest writer for diaTribe Learn and is in her first year of medical school at University of Cincinnati College of Medicine.
